   Actually I wanted to update the color version of this shot but during the editing I somehow scrapped that idea and reworked the whole shot from scratch starting with the re-interpretation of the RAWs. I guess in wintertimes I prefer black and white and in summertimes color shots. The editing was taking quite some time because I wanted to achieve that the black and white version does indeed exemplify the advantages of the bw version over the color version. I hope I was able to make it.

Lovely photo. The black and white photo defiantly has much more of an impact then the color photo. The texture in the rocks really pop and give the photo nice depth. The cloud formations are simply stunning. The long exposure creating interesting lines. The mid tones really help to add another layer of depth of the photo. My favorite part by far is the water. I love how on the left side the water is still, it looks like water from a shot exposure photo and how on the right side it's soft and silky from the long exposure. The balance is perfect.

bis auf den zu dunkeln himmel finde ich die aufnahmen auch sehr stark!
machst du die S/W konvertierung im RAW converter oder erst später beim bearbeiten des bildes? ich bin inzwischen dazu übergegangen S/W konvertierung direkt noch im RAW converter zu machen, weil man einfach noch einen viel größeren handlungsspielraum hat. in der nachbearbeitung werden dann mehrerer S/W belichtungen übereinander gelegt und mit masken zusammengesetzt.

Ich mache die eigentlich immer erst nach dem raw-konvertieren hab das allerdings nie ausprobiert, dass schon vorher zu machen. :D

naja, wenn du nach dem raw-konvertieren eh mit einem 16bit TIFF rausgehst ist es qualitätsmäßig im prinzip eh wurscht ;)

Also ich finde, dass die Farbversion ausbalancierter ist... Bei der BW version finde ich den Himmel einen Tacken zu dunkel... Aber die Dramatik der ganzen Szene steigt dadurch natürlich.
