These days I only seldom find myself not using ultra wide angle for landscapes but once in a while a closer frame sets the tone for a more intimate composition. I love how the early morning fog slowly crept along the valleys of the Saxony Switzerland with the sun rising on the horizon. JanPusdrowski and I spent several days on the 'Kleiner Winterberg' and shot quite a few pictures not knowing whether the conditions may turn for the wore the next day and on our last morning we finally got some mist in the forests below with and clear skies overhead. The moon rise was timed pretty good as well. Although it was a little to high above the horizon for this angle so I shot another exposure at 50mm above the horizon to be able to get the moon in the same frame. The gentle blue light tops the atmosphere, there is nothing quite like the blue morning hour. It was almost silent if it weren't for some bigger animal below in between the trees which cracket fallen branches and twigs with its hooves once in a while, the sound echoing through these waking hours.
Also we were staying and shooting on the little stone mountain on the right 2 days earlier as well as on the major one on the left. Good times.
Here are some works from the same trip:
