   I took quite some different compositions of this particular spot being the Gollinger Waterfall in Austria during my visit. I already uploaded a colored, vertical format some time ago but still I wanted to have a classic b/w of this spot due to all the interesting contrasts one can play with but also because the place does offer certain possibilities to conjure a feeling of danger and almost a sort of witchery if treated right. I tried to give it a hint of haunted forest one may say. If you think of it, couldn't there live some Vodyanoy right below the falls? Something ancient and old guarding the place from intruders? It's quite remarkable what folklore was actually told back in the early days about this site. I just love how imaginative people of the past were, it still seemed there was magic to nature unlike nowadays where we have a wholly different approach to nature. I'm more of a scientific thinker as well but sometime I like to revel in such fantasies.

   It's like often my images (also of others of course) for me transcend their sole state becoming a setting for imaginative figures and fiction which goes way beyond the borders of the frame. Not only preserving an impression I witnessed at a certain point in time but also adding to it so much more. When I look at a picture I see different layers the scientific one, the actual story behind it, the message it might entail, the technical and artistic facts but also everything that marks the place magic somehow. Guess I like to think there is more to photography than "just" catching light.

How is the Sigma EX 10-20mm ?
I'm looking to buy a super-wideangle lens and I'm really confused with the current options...

Well it's not the sharpest I would guess but still very good for the price (I've payed 350€ for a used one). I assume the new 10-20 f/3,5 might be better maybe even better than the famous Tokina 11-16 or 12-24 which have the best reputation as far as I know.
